Preparing for Your Hot Tub Move: What to Consider

Collection and Delivery Access

Before your scheduled move, measure your spa’s dimensions and assess both the collection and delivery routes. Remember, your spa will be transported on its side using a Spa Dolly system, so sufficient vertical and horizontal clearance is essential.

In approximately 10% of cases, access limitations mean that a crane lift is the only safe option. If needed, we can arrange this service and ensure your spa is lifted into place without damage.

NOTE

Additional overhead clearance may be required if the spa needs to be rolled up/down an incline or navigated over steps. You may also need to temporarily remove gates, fence panels, or other obstructions to create a clear path to the installation site.

Pre-Move Access Checklist

Width Clearance
  • Minimum access width required: 32 inches (81 cm).
  • Check all gates, alleyways, and narrow passages.
  • Watch for protruding gas/electric meters, drainpipes, or fixed structures that may restrict movement.

Overhead Clearance
  • Ensure there are no low roof eaves, rain gutters, cables, or overhanging branches that could interfere with spa movement.
  • We require ample headroom to tilt and manoeuvre the spa safely on its side.

Pathway Conditions
  • Remove all loose items along the route—plant pots, bins, furniture, toys, etc.
  • Highlight any tight 90° turns in advance—the spa won’t bend!
  • Steps: A maximum of 6 consecutive steps is manageable. Anything beyond that may require extra manpower or lifting equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

When do I need a crane?

A crane is only needed if pathways, gates, or steps block standard sideways movement—around 10% of jobs.

Most spa moves are completed within a day—from drain to recommission.
